Perhaps no one is more driven by Sage’s purpose of Enriching Lives, One Experience at a Time than Zack. As an entrepreneur, hotelier and philanthropist, he co-founded Sage in 1984 alongside Walter Isenberg and hasn’t strayed from the vision of creating a purpose-led company, one that makes a difference for those involved and has a positive impact on the world. Zack is a firm believer that Sage must deliver excellence, enjoy the work and value the people with whom we do it.
Over more than 40 years, Zack has helped shape Sage’s direction, serving first as President, then as Chairman of the Board and now as Chairman Emeritus and Vice Chairman of the Board. In this role, he remains actively engaged in long-term strategy, capital formation and board leadership, helping ensure Sage continues to serve all four of its constituencies: investors, guests, associates and communities. His focus remains on harnessing the power of a cycle of doing good and doing well.
Zack is active in business and as a social entrepreneur. He has been an investor and board member of private companies in the communications, manufacturing, senior housing, banking, retail, venture and service industries. Currently, he serves on the board of an EdTech company and a social engineering consulting firm.
Over the last 20 years, Zack has had a second career in education, working to improve education systems as a bridge between business, philanthropy and nonprofits. This work stems from his own experiences and Sage’s belief that there is no more powerful way to help a person achieve than to give them the opportunity to advance their own education.
As an avid supporter of arts and education, and a lifelong learner, Zack dedicates his time to many organizations that support educational resources and children’s welfare locally and across the nation. He has taught or lectured at Cornell University, the University of Colorado, Harvard University and the University of Denver.
